The Bible tells us that when we become a Christian, we are all given at least one spiritual gift (1Corinthians 12:7).  Christians are referred to as brothers and sisters of a family, or members of the same body. Each person does his or her part in serving for the common good of the body of Christ.

Serving in the local church is a way to grow and mature our faith. It provides us the valuable opportunity to put our knowledge of God and His Word into action.  As we allow the God’s Word to change our hearts, we will develop a deep love for other people and our attention will begin to be others focused (Galatians 5:13).  God longs to use us to meet the needs of others.

We will not serve perfectly. We may need to adjust the areas in which we serve from time to time.  We also may find an area to serve that we never imagined we would enjoy!  Regardless, we are called to leap in and get involved.
